Higher education institutions (HEIs) are challenged by increased costs, low student success rates, and a changed educational environment. A continuous exploration of possible solutions to these challenges is therefore required. The HEI concerned encountered similar in ensuring nursing students’ success. purpose this study was explore the views lecturers senior students regarding selection characteristics make recommendations characteristics. qualitative, explorative, descriptive design used collect data purposefully from students. Five semi-structured interviews were conducted with two World Café discussions held 19 Trustworthiness measures ethical principles applied. This article aims share on that may enhance programme inform further research. findings suggest personal such as caring attitude, resiliency, commitment, conflict management skills important. An acceptable performance at secondary school level specific subjects suggested. fair process should include an interview psychometric test. It recommended all candidates be tested for risk identification support, but not criteria. Further research required determine predictive value have academic
